Well it’s here again, our biggest music festival covering the most genres and being one of the best days out there is. Although tiring and hot in the Australian sun, it’s worth every flake of peeling skin, every moment of that uneasy stomach from there attempt and food, and all those flattened teeth if you hang out in the boiler room. The full line-up is after the jump, you’ve probably already seen it or heard it though…

We know it, the Canadians and British know it (and the rest of the world), I just hope the USA are cottoning on. Metric’s great! Emily Haines had enough energy to keep Capitol jumping around, and that’s after playing a show at Parklife, which I now wish I had of seen. They played a set that had long track intros and outros, balancing high energy tracks with nice slow moments. Early on they played what seemed like an extended version of Monster Hospital that had a cool jam session at the end of it. I didn’t know much about the entire Metric tracklist, but I especially like Death Disco now and Satellite Mind, a number of their tracks reminded me of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and that made it especially cool, I think Emily Haines stage person is quite wild, like Karen O. And ofcourse Gold Guns Girls, Collect Call and Help I’m Alive had everyone with arms in the air. I can’t remember what track the mcing came in on, but it added so much more to Metric’s set, come to think of it, there seemed to be lots of freedom to their set, and they got the crowd involved a few times, it definitely added leagues to the feel of the night. Finishing with Stadium Love, and a wall of sound, they reminded me again, why live music can be so good. And no encore impressed me, we love you Metric.

He’s way too lazy to put this on here, so I thought I’d help a mate out and put up Mickey Juice’s disco mixtape. Lifted straight from his site! This is not the one you heard on RTR last week, it’s another one so have a listen. Mickey Juice is part of The Bump crew, has played supported for N.A.S.A., Mike Simonetti, and heaps more that I can’t remember right now…and is going to support Steve Aoki and A1 Bassline, so if you don’t go to the next bump you can see him there! Full tracklist after the jump…

Well he’s now doing two dj sets in Perth! See our city is worthy of the biggest acts in the world! I saw a video of Will.i.am vs. Thes One, I don’t know who that is, but anyway, they’re at a party in L.A. where they’re partaking in a ’street battle’ dj set, taking each other on at making better beats, the whole thing is absolutely mad! And I’d love to see him dj live, lots of experience and heaps of success. The video is below the more divider

SLAM! One of the big wigs of the world techno scene, and they will be here in Perth for the Parklife Afterparty. They have been responsible for some tunes that define techno over the years and even though they have been at it for 20+ years their music continues to be relevant and successful. For example their track “Positive education” came out in 1993 on their own record label Soma Recordings. 16 years on and it got
What: Michel Cleis
Where: Ambar
When: 2 October 2009
Cost/Ticket details: 15, Door sales only
Michel Cleis launched onto the scene at this years Miami Winter Music Conference with “La Mezcala” an absolute bomb of a latin infused house number, released on Luciano’s Cadenza label. His production is mostly deep house or a kind of bright tribal with latin influences. Michel Cleis has just been signed to Strictly Rhythm and looks set to continue his roll with, judging from a few recent remixes of his including one of Baeka’s “Right at it” and Spencer Parker’s “the begnining”. This is an good option for a friday night and is only $15 on the door. The last two democracy gigs that I have been to have been excellent and included some of the biggest names in underground house music (Anja Schneider, Guy Gerber, Audion, Oxia). They also have some killer upcoming shows including Nick Curly, D’Julz, Jamie Jones, Nathan Fake and Reboot!

So if you haven’t figured it out yet Zuper Blahq is from a big pop group you might have heard of, there are three guys and a girl, and they’re playing Perth the same night at the Burswood Dome. I’ve got to say his track Here We Go, is pretty catchy, and being part of a massive pop group probably means he knows how to make a good track. LMFAO are party machine djs, doing that cross genre electro-hip hop, which is the best club music, and these guys know how to make it.
