There’s no need for an introduction for this world famous and respected DJ. It was a much anticipated wait for the legend himself of Pete Tong, to come and do his things for loyal house fans at Villa night club.

Pete Tong is a synonymous name with house music where he also possesses one of the most largely recognizable voices in dance music largely due to the ongoing success of his radio shows “The Essential Mix” and “The Essential Selection” – which is featured on the BBC Radio 1 station, which is also one of the biggest and most recognized dance music stations in the world.

With such a big name coming to the small town of Perth, I would of expected the Venue to be more filled out, but due to the festival of Summadayze the next day, there was not much anybody could do, except stay loyal and support this legend of the dance music scene.

The excellent choice of the supporting local line-up consiting of James, Francis, Ben Mac, and Micah was an excellent choice to provide the audience with a variety of warm-up tunes to enhance the excitement enclosed in the venue.

Rumor has it that Pete Tong brought his own personal warm-up DJ of Paul Rogers to warm the crowd up in a specific way that he wanted, which seemed to work for me as I think all the support DJ’s did a fantastic job of building the night up to Pete’s set, and to bring it back down to end the night sucessfully.

By the time Pete started his set the dancefloor was busy, which meant that he could show the punters what he came here to do. Since starting, the atmosphere of the crowd started moving up a few levels where the crowd seemed to be very engaged throughout the whole of his set, which is nothing less than what I would expect.

By playing his selected style of underground house, Pete also was versatile to the general crowd by playing some well known commercial tunes to keep the interest of the crowd up including the Axwell and Dirty south remix of “Sweet Disposition” and “La Tromba” by Chris Lake.

All in all I think this night was definitely worth the money that the crowd had paid to see a well respected legend of the electronic dance music scene. I would of personally preferred if the club was filled to capacity, but as said previously – due to Summadayze the next day, I think the night overall was the best it could of been!
