There’s a new solution to music piracy! Here’s the idea; companies sponsor the Guvera site, and users can come along and download music for free, doing this still means artists/labels/owners still get paid. It’s about to launch on March 30, and then we can see if it has the goods! There’s a couple of things I’m concerned about. The first is whether ALL music will be available, will it be certain artists only, or certain tracks only. It isn’t going to stop piracy if it’s a select few tracks, there has to be variety. The second is the quality of the tracks you download, will they be 128kbps, i.e. useless for dj purposes and people will still download it off blogs illegally because it’s 320 kbps.

I genuinely don’t know the answers to my two concerns, so I’m going to find out and put a reply on this post. I think it’s an awesome idea,  it’s from the Gold Coast, great to see Australian companies leading the way, and hopefully the idea takes off. I’m strapped for cash everytime I get to beatport! haha
