Perthquake friends Faux Pas have some neat new additions to their catalogue for the winter 2010 collection I know we don’t really do anything fashion related anymore, but Cam Duff (contributors) is a keen supporter and the Faux Pas boys make stuff I really enjoy. Holly (ex-contributor) did some ground work for Perthquake to see what was happening at camp Faux-Pas, who don’t seem to be putting many feet wrong at the moment. Full interview after the jump…

Since the launch of the label has Faux Pas evolved, and can you tell us about your current designs?

Yeah Faux Pas has definetly evolved, we still design whatever we want and whatever inspires us at the time but technically what we design and how we design it has progressed and we think what we are doing now for winter (and what’s in store for summer) is leagues ahead of where we started.

Is there any new inspiration for your designs at the moment or are you working with what you’ve done previously?

Still basically running with the old theory of whatever inspires us at the time, some designs get put together in a night where as others can take months before they are finished. It’s like anything; sometimes you can only go so far and you hit a bit of wall and then your inspired by something and you finish the design but it turned out completely different to how you first envisioned. It’s a great feeling to come back to a piece of artwork that you thought you’d hit a stale mate with and then nail it however long after you started. And it’s always good to experiment with new techniques as well.

Where can we find your clothes right now?

Our gear is stocked in around 20 stores across WA, Vic, Qld, NSW and SA. 2010 is going to be a good year for FP, we have a few exciting propositions on the horizon in terms of potential (large) stockists so we will definetly be out for a celebration drink or several if they come to fruition – maybe even throw another party, after all it has been almost 12 months since the last.

Do you have any events/parties/promotions coming up for Faux Pas, how can the people of Perth support the label?

It’s rare to go through a week without several people asking us how the label is going and what’s new on the horizon and that in itself is all the support we need (besides wearing Faux Pas of course). It’s always good to hear someone say they were out the other night and saw some FP threads floating around, that’s what it’s all about for us – that’s where we get our kicks and why we do what we do. There have been talks of another party to launch our Summer range around August/Septemer – we’re pretty excited for Summer as we have a range of singlets coming out to compliment the T-shirts as well and various limited edition pieces which we will release throughout the year. Details of any form of party or celebration are still a bit sketchy but we will make sure Perthquake gets the inside scoop.

And of course, what tracks do you guys love at the moment?

It’s been all about Passion Pit this year – “Little Secrets” and “Sleepy Head” never fail to put me in a good mood.
