Music interview

AC Slater (Parklife)

And so it begins… This is the first in a line of Parklife related interviews (event info here, tickets here). About a month or two ago I had a chat to AC Slater (Trouble & Bass, Party Like Us) and found out the aforementioned labels are possibly about to merge! He also told me about plans to release a solo album, and a forthcoming collaboration album with Dell Harris. There’s a stack more info after the jump…

Grazification

King Titos was another great success on Friday night. Once again I can’t give a full review because Troy and I were djing so we missed Harlequin League and a few djs here and there. However, I can tell you we had a smashing time and both rooms were packed. I caught the multi-genre stylings of Grubby, a lovely filter house set from Friend, some of Bastian’s Happy Flight’s trademark muck-around music, Lightsteed’s educational 70s disco and of course Graz’s headlining set downstairs. Although you get similarities between each dj and artist there’s such a great variety of things to listen too, it’s hard not to have a good time. Full review after the jump…

Philadelphia Grand Jury

Look at what I’ve got… The brand new Philly Jays track. Only completed at lunch time Friday (UK time). Save Our Town is another foot-tapping number. The lyrics are really well written. I always get the feeling their tracks are great up-beat happy songs, until I actually listen! I think that’s the appeal of the Philly Jays, they’ve got music that you can dance to, but then you can get a really good little moral out of each song too. You can download Save Our Town in all it’s 320 kbps glory!

We’re going to be like three little Fonzies…

Alright man, but it can’t be a huge night. I got work tomorrow… Famous last words from my mate as I convinced him to come with me to Ambar on Friday night to see the two gentlemen whose collaboration has become one of the biggest songs of the year. He’s really not into any sort of electronic music at all, so getting him to come out is always a battle. However a session with other friends at the Scotsman that got pretty loose due to several pints of Coopers and a few shots of Jameson, ensured it wasn’t going to be a quiet night. And what followed at Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP made it all worthwhile.
