H.O.S.H. will be playing tonight @ Shape for their inaugural VIP Party. Known to his mother as Holger Behn H.O.S.H. happens to be one of my favorite 4/4 producers at the moment. His tunes are warm with what you may call soul, they can be deep builders like his remix of Oliver Koletzki’s “Music from the heart”, or be boppy house with a bit of a tough edge like his remixes of Nicones “Una rosa” and Mistress Barbra’s “Dance me to the end of love” which is on high rotation for me at the moment. He has had tracks out on Get Pysical, Paloma, Stil vor talent but is most closely associated with Diynamic, which also houses the likes of Stimming and Solomun and releases tunes of a consistently high quality, I strongly suggest you check the label out. And check out “Radar” a song H.O.S.H. produced alongside Stimming, one of my favorites.
A quick note on SHAPE VIP, its $20 gets you cheap entry to all gigs @ shape, discounted drinks and gets you in @ 9pm on VIP party nights (like tonight) for the “VIP treatment” which = free drinks and a door prize of a double pass to all the upcoming festivals (worth $2000) fuk I want that
Buzzin’ Fly Radio (24/04/09) with a guest mix from H.O.S.H.
Back to the program… H.O.S.H. will be playing Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Sydney and Brisbane as part of his tour and he was was kind enough to catch up with Perthquake from the comfort of his with an asparagus risotto in his tummy, and this is what he had to say:
What are some of your favourite albums of all time?
Michael Jackson – Bad and Thriller, all Jimi Hendrix, Ride – Going Blank Again, Faft Punk – Homework, Laurent Garnier – Unreasonable (live), Alex Under – Dispositivos De Mi Granja… there are a lot more, those are the ones immediately came onto my mind
How did you first get into dance music?
It first started with some acid and goa trance parties when I was 16 around hamburg. At that time the music on those parties wasn´t that overloaded as it was later in that genre which I never liked. It was more deep acid house. I preferred the sound that was more concentrated on the percussions and reduced on elements. This hypnotic monotonous feeling was what got me into techno. I loved the Massimo Vivona stuff at that time and a little later antonelli electric was my long time hero.
To pursue a career in electronic music is a big move, what are some of the big decisions you have had to make in your life/career? Have there been hard times? What do you think has led to your success?
Actually It was not a hard decision for me to decide to go on a full music career.
