LIMELITE is all about bringing bangin’ tunes and ensuring Friday night mayhem. After witnessing the Dutch duo BINGO PLAYERS smash it out at Creamfields it was pure lust. They are leaving the local bingo hall to highroll it at the bighouse on October 29.

Bingo Players, Paul Bäumer and Maarten Hoogstraten, have been left gasping for air after a seriously hectic year with bookings all over. A mix of hard work, devotion, a knack for producing massive hits and frenzies on the dfloor sees the boys from the Netherlands absolutely killing it!

The Bingo Players are a match made in heaven, their remake of the dance floor classic “Devotion”, being the proof in the pudding. This track stayed at no. 1 for two weeks and over a month in the top 10! The skyrocketing success of recent track “Tom’s Diner” saw Onelove compilation Sound Machine 14 fly off the shelves.

And if that wasn’t tantalisingly tasty, we are adding special guest Gramophonedzie into the mix. Gramophonedzie’s dancefloor bomb ‘Why Don’t You’ was one of the biggest club records and received widespread club support from the likes of Erick Morillo and Steve Angello. This hit has racked up over 1,000,000 views on YouTube and enjoyed widespread airplay across both TV and radio. Now the rising star is bringing his passion for funk and live instrumental sounds to Fremantle.

It’s a recipe for another heaving night at Limelite. So get down early and hold onto your cards, its bingo time!

LIMELITE is all about big room house music and it doesn’t get any bigger than U.S. Dj Richard Vission. Hot on the heals of his massive club hit “I Like That”, Vission brings his big sound to the big house on Friday 13th of August, so lets get spooky.

With an impressive list of chart-topping clients on his resume like Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Radiohead, Crystal Method, LMFAO, Richard Vission, has established himself as an A-list Producer, Remixer, and DJ.

Vission is considered to be a pioneer in the Los Angeles dance/electronic music scene and his weekly radio show, “Powertools” on Power 106 FM (Los Angeles), is the longest running dance mix show in the United States. As one of the most sought after DJs in the world, Vission performs over 100 shows a year; from co-headlining some of the largest music festivals in the U.S. to rocking private celebrity events like Madonna’s birthday party.

Vission’s name has become synonymous with ‘hit-maker’. Madonna loved one of his remixes so much, she had one of her music videos re-edited to a Richard Vission mix and she also included him (and his turntable) in her live performance of “Music” at the 2001 Grammyâ Awards. In 2009, Black Eyed Peas performed to the Vission remix of “Meet Me Halfway” at the American Music Awards, in addition to performing it nightly on their world tour.

Vission’s latest single, “I Like That” with Static Revenger starring Luciana, has gone double platinum in Australia and was the #1 requested video on MTV Australia. The song was also nominated for two awards at the 2010 International Dance Music Awards.

Music review

Trouble with bass

In my mind I hyped up Friday night to epic proportions. I wasn’t disappointed, but I wasn’t completely impressed either. There were some glitches in the night overall that took away from some very impressive tracks and skills. There were some pretty strong positives too, so before I pick everything apart I’ll start with what I liked. Limelite was absolutely packed, and it didn’t take long for an impressive dance floor to appear, which is to Limelite’s credit for getting some damn good artists to come to Perth. The general atmosphere was pretty good too, I saw plenty of djs/promoters/hardcore fans at the event, which always makes it seem more genuine and enjoyable. There isn’t much to complain about the contents of Drop The Lime’s set either, it was an eclectic mix of tech-house, electro, dubstep, and rockabilly. However, I did allude to some setbacks, which you can read after the jump…

Music review

Long way to walk

As usual I missed the beginning of the night down at Limelite, but as usual, I have someone to blame it on! This time Perthquake photographer Jamie is the handy scape goat. He made me late because he got home from work at 11, and by the time we were ready to go it was closer to 12, so that’s about all there is to it. My tardiness caused me to miss Craig Hollywood’s entry (first set I think) to the Limelite arena. On his humble account he wasn’t happy with it so maybe it was good I didn’t see it? Jokes aside the night actually ended up being, well, average. Simply because the djing skills of the main act just didn’t cut it (in their defence I didn’t see any monitors). Although the vibe of the night was still pretty fun. Full review after the jump…
