TRUS”ME (Fat City | Manchester | UK)
$5 ENTRY — 8PM — PLEASE GET DOWN EARLY!!!
Joining musical forces to bring you a night of boogie, funk and house music heavy-weights, discoINCORRECTO! and {move} proudly present Trus’me – one of Manchester’s latest producers to take the dance music world by storm.
In the winter of 2006 on a whim David Wolstencroft aka Trusme sent some of his work to various labels around the globe, it paid off. The now legendary cd sampler “Nards” led to the immediate release for Trusme on the Still label sparking the beginning of a promising musical career for one very talented individual. Since, having collaborated with legends such as Chez Demier, Amp Fiddler and Dam Funk, and releasing music on his own Prime Numbers imprint from the likes of Move D, Actress, Mr Scruff, Linkwood and Reggie Dokes, Trusme has proven himself an integral part of the Manchester scene.
Surrounded by the heads of Manchester and its deep routed scene his musical tastes evolved from very early on with an eclectic mix of influences from the deep techno and house sounds of Detroit to classic US disco and funk, and UK bass aesthetics. His production has been compared to Moodymann and other such Detroit luminaries with releases snatching feature spots and record of the week in many outlets from Piccadilly Records in Manchester to Jazzy Sport in Tokyo. “Like bookends some 12’s will work with both the beginning and end of the night the night, such is the classy sampling from Trusme” (Peter Nicholson, XLR8R). He has picked up support and admiration from all the right d.js and producers such as Ashley Beedle, Mad Matts, Juan Atkins, Chez Damier and Gilles Peterson, who first championed him on Radio 1 saying,” if there was ever a house record made for me, it would sound like this`”
In 2007 Fat City Recordings released his debut album entitled “Working Nights” with a host of what were to become classic tracks re-enforcing the Trusme sound. This has led to an array of Trusme remixes being requested from acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Amp Fiddler, Dabrye, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Alton Miller and Anthony Shake Shakir. Trusme has also become a highly in-demand dj and has been touring extensively in the U.S and Europe over the last two years. He has developed a reputation for thoughtful and eclectic sets, representing his sound and open-minded musical tastes.
Trus’me plays the Bird Friday 28th of Jan with support from Rob Blanford and Ben Taaffe. Tickets are only $5 on the door from 8pm. Please come early to avoid the line out the front.
