Music review

These are the days of our summer

I learned something pretty special on the weekend. A wise man I saw at Summadyze pointed out that festivals aren’t just about the music, they’re about the festival experience. The melting pot of people looking to have a good time, where mates can hang out, people dress up foolishly and there’s music involved for people to enjoy. With that in mind I opened up my eyes and saw everyone having a really good time, which is pretty characteristic of our Perth summers. That isn’t to say the festival was flawless, there were a few things that needed fixing, but all-in-all I had a pretty good day, and for me Summadayze had the best line-up of the 2010/11 festival season, plenty of disco-house to make you get down. Check out the full review after the jump….

Music interview

Chromeo

Somewhat unbelievably, Summadayze is almost here (tickets here yo). Not to mention all the shit between now and then. But that’s neither here nor there. Quite a while ago now I had a chance to chat with P-Thugg from Chromeo. It was back when they released their CD. I watched a few interviews with them which made them look like really funny guys but I guess he was a little flat this day or something. Anyways we discussed all sorts of stuff including the internet and what we can expect at Summadayze next year, Saturday 8 January (how good is a festival on a Saturday night by the way). Interview starts here, more on the other side!

Congratulations on Business Casual man how’s it feel to get it out there?

We’re still in that period you know where we’re kinda waiting to see what the reactions are.

Summadayze

Summadayze was ridiculously hot, I know this review is meant to be about the music, but damn it, the heat was a major player that day and it deserves a mention. So to the sun; you fuckin’ shone man, you shone all fuckin’ day long, not even a cloud could get in your way, the dudes with water hoses had no chance.
Stand out for the day for myself was hands down James Murphy and Pat Mahoney, they bought the Disco heat when everyone thought it couldn’t get any hotter. It was great to see a solid crew hang around for the duo’s set which fortunately didn’t just stick

Poor spelling aside this should be a pretty big event, mainly for the majority of well known acts coming to play from a heap of different genres. There are a few less well known, well they’re still well known but not the same kind of ‘well known,’ acts like 2manydjs (Pictured), LCD Soundsystem (Dj Set), Juan Maclean, and Treasure Fingers. You can see the full line up after the jump!
