Guess who’s back with another white hot track… Tabularaza. A perfectly put together, catchy, summery track called This Can’t Be. It’s transporting me out of my lab and into a world of summer fun. Enjoy! This Can’t Be (Original Mix) by Tabularaza

Friday night, best fun yet! (Please note how I didn’t use ‘funnest,’ it isn’t an acceptable word). Heading down to King Tito’s early was pretty exciting because of the dj set Troy and I were getting to play, but I was super nervous too. Not because of the dj set (although I’m sure there were some nervous, easily overcome with a drink) but because I wanted to see a great turn out for Tabularaza. Long story short; stupid me for ever thinking there wouldn’t be a big crowd. It’s Tabularaza and it’s King Tito’s! The entire night was a killer success and the way Tito’s is now organised with some heavy beats upstairs and disco-house downstairs makes for a great club night. Full review of downstairs after the jump…
Titos back after a whirlwind round the world party trip.
Sure he had fun in New York…..charmed the locals in Berlin and tore apart London searching for the true meaning of Party…He learned a little along the way…and then forgot most of it. No matter. What’s left is the essence of party and he’s bringing it to this month’s Dirty Disco.
Tabularaza make their Tito’s debut. Underground sounds live from that hot bed of nu disco chic – The western suburbs…
A stella supporting cast of Tito’s finest friends will also be on hand to help cut the cake. DJ’s Buda and Azwon return with Malone, Cooker, Fkn Midas, those crazy Perthquake kids and everybody’s favourite last chance dance merchant Joe Macc. Excellent.
Plus Tito’s put his hand up to help with the Launch of Richard in Your Mind’s new Album so there’ll be give aways and stuff throughout the night.
Friday night gave a fresh start to the Perth music scene. We’ve created a great foundation to the Perth disco-house scene. Perthquake, Warm Kitten and Scenic pulled together to create one hell of fun night. Filled with great music from great djs and of course Tabularaza. Tabularaza are easily Perth’s hottest new dance act. Their catchy beats and perfectly placed synth layers make for very easy listening, even if you’re not a dance music fan. Full review after the jump…
Tabularaza – Reminisce
The hottest new nu-disco act since Cut Copy are Tabularaza. As you may have noticed Perthquake is possibly their number one fan, especially since we’re hosting their first live performance this Friday (event info here). The guys took a few minutes off their hectic study regime to answer a couple of questions ahead of the big show. Have a listen to Prime Prime Prime whilst you read the full interview after the jump…
p.s. cya Friday night!
Why the rework of the demo tracks?
It started with the restructuring of Prime, we love the vocals on that track but have moved on from its general vibe. Prime was one
Perthquake, Scenic and Warm Kitten proudly present the first ever MAYBE DANCING WILL HELP!
We are being told that the Perth club scene is dying if not already in the ground. This may or may not be true, but that’s okay, because Fremantle is the new (and wildly more fun), Perth. With that in mind WA’s premier electronic music blog PERTHQUAKE has rallied up a few talented performers for a night of debauched disco, nefarious nu-disco and… fuck I’m sorry I’m totally rambing… we just wanna have a fun night with some good tunes. And providing those good tunes will be:
TABULARAZA, with their first ever completely LIVE show (none of this playing off Ableton). This up-and-coming duo craft the kind of dreamy, fun, grooving synth-disco jams that will literally prevent you from doing anything other than dance. To get an idea of what you’re instore for, visit their myspace
Tabularaza (Myspace)
And supporting these lads will be good friends and disco fiends in their own right, HOLY THURSDAY, HIPPO CAMP and of course your hosts, the PERTHQUAKE DJs.
We’re all getting pretty tired of a club scene that appears to be imploding on itself, and Fremantle is there for the taking. Full of eager kids who just wanna party, we need to unite to form what will be a fucking awesome Friday night.
From 8pm til 12am at the Norfolk Basement, the party jams kick-on at King Tito’s Dirty Disco at the East End Bar.
It’s early days yet, so keep your eyes peeled for a spanking new flyer and *fingers crossed* possibly even some transport from the big, dead smoke for those too scared to tackle the 15 minute trip southward.
There’s a burgeoning scene of damn cool producers rising up and making dancing fun again, and we look forward to showcasing it for you come June 18!
Mother fucking ‘ey! I’ve been so excited for these new versions of some of my favourite tracks, and cannot wait to see these guys live, which might be sooner than you’d expect, hint, hint!. So anyway, we have three final versions of Tabularaza tracks, “Prime Prime Prime,” “Thing to Break” and “Reminisce.” Additionally we have two new covers, Holy Ghost!’s “I Will Come Back” and Joy Division’s “Isolation.”

Well it came and passed with a little less of a bang than I expected, but that was only on the crowd front. Last Friday night at The Republic was the second Disco DaDa that Perthquake has presented. We were lucky enough to have the first dj set ever from Tabularaza (they’re working on a live set and you can read about their exploits here). Although they did ’steal’ all the cool tracks I wanted to play, but considering three of them were their own tracks I thought I’d better keep it friendly. haha. They were preceeded by Curtiss Redell and Leighton Head, who played some awesome funk and old disco including a favourite Pinapples “Come On Over.” Once they rounded out their Tabularaza slammed down an awesome loop of “perthquake,” ah yes it made me smile! The rest of their set was catchy and very danceable with the small crowd occuping the dancefloor the entire night. They dropped at least two of their own tracks, I think they played “Prime Prime Prime,” and “Reminisce” but my memory doesn’t serve me too well today! It was really cool to see people enjoying ‘nu-disco’ and Tabularaza seemed to be enjoying it too. Can’t wait to see them play again!
They’re playing this Friday night for Disco DaDa presented by Perthquake at The Republic (event info here) and I’d say it won’t be the last you hear of Tabularaza. Their songs are very catchy, and easy to dance to (I’ve had their EP playing non-stop in my car, three songs over and over and over). The best bit about this duo, they’re from Perth! These guys are more evidence that Perth has a thriving dance music scene, we all need to get behind our local underground producers and suppor their work! I did a Q&A with Eric and Adam, and their responses are below, so if you’re desperate to know how to become a good producer, I’d read it!

How did you guys meet?
Don’t think Eric and I ever formerly met, but we went to the same high school. The only class we had in common was actually music, which was a good laugh most of the time. We played in a few Alt rock
In the post below I talked about enjoying Kasper Bjorke’s music, well he’s got nothing on these two Perth lads! Adam Tucker and Eric Harrison are Tabularaza and are also part of the Scenic blog crew (site here). They’ve been producing disco/dance tracks for about a year and have gained the attention of Sweat It Out and Theee Bang Gang. Below are three tracks that you can stream or download for free! I recommend these tracks, because they’re f-ing awesome, “Prime Prime Prime” is a favourite. And… you may see these guys dj soon at the Republic, hint hint!
